"Patch" featured Pace University Students, Faculty and Staff in "Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon Raises Over $11,000 for Maria Fareri"

Pace University Students, Maria Fareri Families and Pace Faculty and Staff danced 'Under the Sea' for the 7th Pace 4-Kids fundraiser

Pace University students, inspired by the care children and families receive at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, held the 7th Annual Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon, raising a total of $11,327 for children's hospital in Valhalla.

Nearly 200 people turned out and danced for six hours on November 16th in Kessel Student Center at Pace University's Pleasantville campus. Families of children treated at the hospital also shared moving stories of their experiences. Maria Fareri Children's Hospital cares for the most seriously ill and injured children in the Hudson Valley and Fairfield County.

The event was founded seven years ago by former students Samantha Bassford and Caity Kirschbaum, who attended this year's dance marathon. Pace 4 Kids has raised more than $110,000 for Maria Fareri over that time.

Christina Fonte, executive director of Pace 4 Kids, said she is passionate in her support of the organization because of her personal experience with the hospital.

"In 2018, my brother suffered from an ATV accident, had reconstructive hip surgery, and spent three weeks at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital before entering a rehabilitation center for further recovery,'' she said. "From my brother's time at the hospital, I can see how caring and precise the doctors and nurses who cared for him were. That is why I continue to support this cause each year."
