Seeking Medical Attention

If you are concerned about possible exposure to COVID-19, you should:

  • Self-isolate until you contact your health care provider or University Health Care to get instructions and the latest care guidelines.
  • Please note that University Health Care does not accept walk-in appointments.
  • Telehealth and telemental health virtual visits are now available through Zoom for Healthcare. Please call ahead or schedule an appointment via the confidential patient portal.

If you feel sick with a fever, cough, sore throat, or muscle aches you should:

  • Self-isolate until you have consulted with your health care provider or University Health Care.
  • Call ahead to your health care providers office, urgent care (e.g., CityMD) or your nearest emergency room and advise them of your symptoms and potential exposure.

If you have persistent chest pain, shortness of breath, bluing of the lips, or confusion you should:

  • Seek medical attention immediately.
  • Call 9-1-1 or call ahead to your nearest emergency room and advise them of your symptoms.

If you would like to get a COVID-19 virus test, you should:

  • Call ahead to your health care provider.
  • Contact the New York State COVID-19 testing hotline at (888) 364-3065, or schedule a test online.
  • Call ahead to a CityMD near you.

If you have a pending COVID-19 virus test, you should:

  • Continue to self isolate and monitor your symptoms.
  • Please be thoughtful about the Pace Community and let us know that you have a pending test. Advanced warning can help in the University’s public health efforts.
    • If you are a student, faculty or staff member: self-report online via University Health Care’s confidential patient portal.
      • If you are a staff member, please contact your direct supervisor.
      • If you are a faculty member, please contact your department chair.

If you have received a positive COVID-19 virus test result, you should:

  • Self-isolate and follow all Department of Health guidelines.
  • Focus on getting the care you need and getting well.
  • If you are able, report your positive test results online via University Health Care’s confidential patient portal or call the Pace Coronavirus Hotline at (855) 722-3855.
