Pace Cybersecurity Conference
The Annual Cybersecurity Conference at Pace University
Since 2017, the Seidenberg School has hosted an annual Cybersecurity Conference, alternating locations between Pace University’s New York City and Pleasantville campuses. Each year, the conference takes on a different theme, bringing together leaders from the private and public sectors to tackle the biggest issues in cybersecurity today.
Held during October, which is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the conference offers insights from top cybersecurity personnel who are at the forefront of the industry and networking opportunities for guests that broaden interdisciplinary discourse, discovery, and engagement in the field. Breakfast and lunch is served, with coffee breaks scheduled throughout the day.
The conference traditionally includes a live demonstration from the Westchester County Police Department from Harley the Cyber Dog and handler, Detective Brett Hochran. Harley has been trained to detect electronic devices and is used in police investigations where hidden devices may elude human discovery but not the sensitivity of a K9’s nose.
October 6, 2017: Cybersecurity threats and issues specific to business on a business, government, and national level. Keynote speakers: Cy Vance Jr., Manhattan District Attorney, and Timothy T. Lunderman, senior cybersecurity administrator for worldwide technology and former top tier administrator for the US National Security Agency.
October 11, 2018: The depth of the threat – in 2018, data breaches touched U.S. power grids, universities, banks, airlines, credit agencies, and even the most seemingly impregnable systems. Keynote speakers: Jeh Johnson, former Secretary of Homeland Security, and Roger Parino, NYS Commissioner for Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
October 3, 2019: The economics of cybersecurity in healthcare – understanding the costs of cyber exposure to protect enterprise and patients. The 2019 conference eschewed a keynote speaker and introduced an interactive cybersecurity exercise.
