Seidenberg Summer Scholars
The Seidenberg Summer Scholars high school camp is back for the summer of 2020! This year’s camp has been optimized for online delivery, so you’ll be able to participate – and earn college credit – from the comfort of your own home.
From Monday, July 20 – Monday, August 3, 2020, Professor Carmine Guida will be teaching an exciting new course which, once completed, will net you two finished projects to add to your technology portfolio.
This is an entirely online course. There will be weekly videos and live seminars with the Professor. Students will also use the discussion board to engage with other students as well as reflect on their projects for this course.
So what is Seidenberg Summer Scholars about this year? Here’s a hint – it’s rated E for Everyone!
Game Development for Everyone
Learn programming and interactivity through the lens of Game Development. No prior experience is needed.
Students will gain familiarity with the Unity game engine and learn about topics such as sprites, models, collisions, physics, lighting, and audio. Additionally, students will create their own behaviors by programming in C#.
This is a project based course with students building playable games throughout the semester.
How it Works
Seidenberg Summer Scholars will take place for two weeks from July 20 – August 3, 2020.
Students are expected to commit around 15 hours per week to completing the course, including 2 hours of live class time on weekdays. Classes will take place on Monday through Thursdays from 2-4pm EST.
Students will then have the weekends to work on their projects and ensure understanding of the course material.
On Monday, August 3, students will showcase their completed games for a two-hour Game-a-Thon, which will be attended by family and friends, as well as members of the entire Pace University community!
Cost and Credits
There are two options for this course.
Just the course – you will access all the classes, discussion boards, group work, and materials. After completing all of the coursework, you can expect to complete the course with two finished games for your portfolio.
The course and college credits – not only will you learn how to program video games but you’ll earn 3 college credits which can be applied to your undergraduate degree at Pace University’s Seidenberg School for a fraction of the cost! Each credit is just $150, for a total additional cost of $450.
