Virtual Opportunities

While Pace study abroad is cancelled through the Spring semester due to COVID-19, you may wish to take advantage of virtual global opportunities – starting in January 2021. Below are some program options. (Check back on this site, as more virtual course offerings are being developed!)

How it works:

  • You must first apply through the Pace study abroad portal.
  • All course and internship fees are paid directly to the providers listed below (not to Pace).
  • There is no additional Pace Study Abroad Fee billed for such opportunities.
  • These courses have already been vetted by Pace, so you will get Pace academic credit as outlined below (assuming that you complete the deliverables and pass the course).
  • Remember: These are virtual courses; there is no travel associated with any of these programs.
  • Contact Pace Education Abroad with questions: studyabroad@pace.edu

Virtual Global Internships

CEA’s virtual Global Internship provides you with a unique opportunity to gain global professional experience, boost your career profile, build an international professional network, and expand your skill set by interning with a company based overseas – while staying local. These are project-based internships, with 8-week placements. Students will receive 3 credits of Pace General Elective. Because this is considered a Spring 2021 semester program, students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours at Pace and not exceed 18 credit hours (inclusive of this virtual course/internship) during the semester. Note that Lubin students cannot obtain academic credits for this internship program. CEA requires that you must have completed your freshman year and have a GPA of 2.75 in order to apply and participate.

Internships through CEA are offered in 10 countries virtually, in Spring 2021:

  • Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina (students will need an intermediate level of Spanish)
  • Florence, Italy
  • Paris, France
  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • Rome, Italy
  • San Jose, Costa Rica (students will need an intermediate level of Spanish)
  • Seville, Spain
  • Sydney, Australia

Internship dates: January 18–March 26, 2021

Pace study abroad application deadline: November 12
After you’re accepted by Pace, you must then apply to CEA by November 16

Courses focused on South Korea

TEAN/The Education Abroad Network’s remote winter term course offerings in Korea:

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to fit in more academic credit this school year, and earn credit and receive a transcript from prestigious Hanyang University in Seoul. Participate in interactive virtual Korean culture activities, such as a K-pop dance lesson or singing contest. Get a taste of what it’s like to study in South Korea – putting you on the path of planning for a future trip or study abroad program. Learn from international professors on your own schedule via recorded lectures. These courses are offered during the Winter 2021 term, and Pace students may take only one class during this term (either one of these virtual classes or one at Pace).

Course dates: January 4–15, 2021

Pace Study Abroad application deadline: November 20
After you’re accepted by Pace, you must then apply to TEAN by November 30

Courses focused on Latin America

CGEE/Center for Global Education and Experience virtual courses:

Starting in early January 2021, each of these CGEE courses is taught by faculty in Central America who bring an array of voices and perspectives from Central America to the virtual classroom. Engage deeply with topics through courses that feature both synchronous and asynchronous interviews – with thematic experts and everyday peoples’ lived experiences with the topic at hand. These courses are designed to allow students to learn from communities and groups working for social change, to inform thought and action for personal and societal transformation. Students will have the opportunity to dialogue directly with the guests, instructors, and each other. These courses are offered during the Winter 2021 term, and Pace students may take only one class during this term (either one of these virtual classes or one at Pace). Coursework will be in English; all interviews and readings in Spanish will have English translations and subtitles where necessary.

Course dates: January 4–29, 2021

Pace study abroad application deadline: December 1
After you’re accepted by Pace, you must then apply to CGEE by December 11
