The Xander Pretorius Spirit Award

Xander Pretorius Spirit Award

Former Pace University BA Acting student, Xander PretoriusThe year of 2019 marked the inaugural Xander Pretorius Spirit Award in honor of the beloved South African, BA Acting student, Xander Pretorius.

Xander passed away tragically on March 7th, 2017 at the age of 22. Xander’s passing left a hole in the hearts of all who knew him in the BA Acting and Directing programs and the entire Pace School of Performing Arts community. Xander was exuberant, generous, and accepting of all people. He was avidly curious about the world around him and always hungry to learn and grow. This fund has been named the Spirit Award in honor of Xander’s inimitable personality and wonderful spirit. It has been established by the Pretorius family to support future students in the BA Acting program with a love for life and learning and that embody the collaborative and supportive ethos of the program just as Xander did so wholeheartedly.

The Spirit Award is for $10,000 to be awarded in the student’s junior year with funds to be allocated for use during their senior year in two installments. The scholarship can only be used for tuition related expenses and fees associated with it.
