Along with stimulating lectures and seminars, you will encounter small-group intensive language studies, supervised independent research assignments, as well as technology-based instructions.

In addition, the program gives you the opportunity to participate in diversified curriculum activities to gain bilingual knowledge, work experience and skills, and the professional networks needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

The program works closely with Pace’s History department, Office of International Programs and Services, and Global Asia Institute to develop regular exchange programs with universities in China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea, offering students many ways to spend a semester or a year abroad.

The program involves full-time faculty members from various academic disciplines such as History, Modern Languages, Literature, Economics, and Communication Studies. The breadth and depth of different disciplines and faculty expertise will provide a well-integrated academic structure for students to study a rich array of Asia-related topics.

Independent research in Global Asia Studies allows students to work closely with faculty on student designed topics or on current faculty research projects. Students in our program have presented papers at regional and national scholarly conferences and have published articles on such topics as “Korean War Brides,” “Wikileaks on US-China Rivalries over Taiwan,” and “Russian-Chinese Border Relations.”

The Global Asia Studies program helps students attain internships in New York City’s Asian cultural institutions to combine academic knowledge with practical experience. Students leave their internships with new connections in the community, professional skill sets, and a deepened understanding of diasporic Asian cultures.

This program is also closely connected to the Global Asia Institute in New York City.

“The Global Asia Studies degree has not only offered me insight into some of the most fascinating cultures in the world, but also given me freedom to travel to South Korea to study art and linguistics. For anyone who wants to broaden their horizon, this degree is perfect!”
