Working primarily as a director of devised theatre and collaborative playmaking, Rhinehart’s productions have been seen in The Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Scotland, Germany and the U.S. He is a critically acclaimed actor (The New York Times, Show Business Weekly) and has performed in over 100 productions in the U.S. and Germany. The plays he has written or co-written have been seen in a variety of venues, from Off-Off Broadway to the site-specific.
Brian is a Fulbright teaching-artist (University of Arts Braunschweig, Germany), an internationally published scholar on the subject of contemporary German theatre, and co-author of a book, titled Comedy Acting for Theatre: The Art and Craft of Performing in Comedies, published by Bloomsbury/Methuen. He is an instructor of theatre at S.W.U.F.E, in Chengdu, China, and has given numerous seminars and workshops on acting, improvisation, and devising in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He holds an MFA in Directing from The Actors Studio Drama School, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Florida.
