Through Pace University's partnership with Roma Tre University, you will earn two master's degrees in just two years while spending one year in Rome and one year in New York City.

Roma Tre students begin their studies in Rome before completing their second year at Pace University's New York City campus, while Pace students begin in New York City before completing their second year at Roma Tre University in Rome. All courses at Pace are taught in English, providing students with an international academic experience while preparing them for careers in the global data science workforce. Please note that, unlike coursework at Pace, not all courses at Roma Tre are offered in English.

Pace University and Roma Tre University have partnered to offer an international dual degree pathway that allows qualified students to earn two master's degrees in two years.

Students complete their first year at Roma Tre University in Rome before spending their second year studying at Pace University's New York City Campus. Students enrolled at Pace University complete the program in the opposite direction, beginning in New York City before spending their second year at Roma Tre University in Rome. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates receive:

• A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Roma Tre University
• A Master of Science in Data Science from Pace University

Designed to provide an advanced, interdisciplinary education, the dual degree program combines the strengths of mechanical engineering and industrial management with data science and data analytics. Students gain technical expertise across multiple disciplines while developing the international perspective and professional experience needed to succeed in today's global workforce.

Earn Your STEM-Designated Master's Degree at Pace

During your year at Pace University, you'll complete the requirements for the STEM-designated Master of Science in Data Science.

The program provides hands-on experience in collecting, processing, analyzing, and communicating insights from complex data while learning from expert faculty and engaging with New York City's technology ecosystem.

Pace students who complete their second year at Roma Tre University will continue their studies in mechanical engineering through coursework approved under the dual degree agreement. Because some courses at Roma Tre are taught in Italian, students should review language expectations and course offerings before participating in the program.

Program Structure

• Duration: 2 years (4 full-time semesters)
• Location: 1 year in Rome + 1 year in New York City
• Language of Instruction at Pace: 100% English
• Language of Instruction at Roma Tre: Courses are offered in both Italian and English; availability varies by semester and program.
• Credit Transfer: Credits earned at each university are applied toward both degrees, ensuring an efficient path to graduation.

Credit Transfers Policy

Students admitted to the dual degree program will complete approved coursework at both institutions. Credits earned at Roma Tre University will transfer toward Pace University's Master of Science in Data Science, while coursework completed at Pace will count toward the Roma Tre degree requirements in accordance with the academic agreement between the two universities.

Students moving to Pace from Italy will be allowed transfer of up to nine (9) American credits (27 Italian CFU) from Roma Tre to Pace, which will count towards the fulfillment of the US Degree requirements, and eighteen (21) American credits (66 Italian CFU) from Pace to Roma Tre, which will count towards the fulfillment of the Italian Degree requirements.

Students moving to Roma Tre from the United States will be allowed transfer of up to twenty-one (21) credits (60 Italian CFU) from Pace to Roma Tre, which will count towards the fulfillment of the Italian Degree requirements, and nine (9) American CFU (27 Italian CFU) from Roma Tre to Pace, which will count towards the fulfillment of the US Degree requirements.

How to Apply

For students from Italy

Apply through Pace University's online application and submit a certified TOEFL score (required for visa purposes).

For students from the US

Apply through Roma Tre University’s online application. Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time in a Pace graduate program. Admitted students will be enrolled in Roma Tre’s Mechanical Engineering master’s program.

When to apply

By TBD Pace students going to Roma Tre University in 2026 must apply to the program that they are interested in through the Roma Tre program application website.

By TBD, Pace students interested in studying in Italy must apply for a visa. More information can be found on the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation website.

Pace students are exempt from the prerequisite requirements for enrollment.
