Charles North

Faculty Bio

Charles North has published eleven books of poems, including Complete Lineups (2009); What It is Like: New and Selected Poems, which headed NPR’s Best Poetry of 2011 list; and North of the Charles: Early and Uncollected Poems (2018). He has done collaborative works with artists and other poets, and What It Is Like: Selected Essays, Interviews and Other Prose 1975-2014 was published in 2017. With James Schuyler, he edited the anthologies Broadway and Broadway 2. His poetry has appeared in more than forty anthologies and he has received numerous honors for his writing, including two NEA Fellowships and a Foundation for the Arts Individual Artist’s Grant. He is a Faculty Advisor to Aphros, the Pace literary magazine, and teaches courses in poetry writing and literature in Dyson and in the Pforzheimer Honors college. He founded and directs Poets@ Pace, which brings noted writers to Pace each semester.
