On February 16-18, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University had two teams compete in the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition’s Brooklyn Regional. The two Haub Law advocacy teams included Audra Gale, Stephanie Areford, Amanda Dinkin, and Renee Fancher.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University held a Wellbeing Fair this week bringing together students, faculty, and staff to promote wellness through a variety of related activities and resources.

Derek Segars ’23 comes from a family of Detroit public servants and has always placed a strong value on it as a result. “My great-grandfather was a bus driver for the City of Detroit, my grandfather was a police officer, my father was a fire safety inspector and arson investigator, and my mother was a social worker for 25 years,” said Derek. “I grew up surrounded by public servants and understanding the importance of dedicating your career to helping others.”

From amazing stats to stellar students and alumni, here are just a few of our favorite things.

On Saturday and Sunday, March 19–20, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University united for the Louis V. Fasulo First Year Moot Court Competition, held in-person for the first time since 2019. The 2022 Louis V. Fasulo First Year Moot Court Competition is the Advocacy Program's principal source for recruiting outstanding advocates for Haub Law’s highly competitive Moot Court Program. The Competition was named after Professor Louis V. Fasulo, Director of Advocacy Programs, for his long and outstanding work with the program.

Jillian Houle always had an interest in the law, but what really shifted her gears full-force towards a career in law was her undergraduate education where she studied structural racism, the feminist movement, indigenous rights, food insecurity, and most importantly to her, the climate crisis.

After graduating from Queens College with a Bachelor’s Degree in history, Vito Arango decided to pursue a paralegal certificate and explore a career in the law. Vito spent over three years working as a legal secretary/paralegal before deciding it was time to pursue law school.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law’s Advocacy Team advanced to the semi-finals at the prestigious National Moot Court Regional Competition held November 17, co-sponsored by the New York City Bar Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers. Haub Law students Francine Michel (3L) and Kathryn Facelle (3L) represented Haub Law in the regional competition held at the New York City Bar Association, advancing to the semi-finals and placing among the top 4 teams. Notably, the team’s brief was ranked fifth out of the entire competition as well. The Haub Law team was coached by Adjunct Professor Jennifer Arlin.

At the Pace Environmental Law Review (PELR) Symposium held on October 28, PELR announced Haub Law 3L Christen Maccone as the winner of the John R. Nolon Student Writing Competition, held for the first time this year. Christen’s article entitled, Should Environmental Protection be Through Anthropocentric Rights?, addresses the issues with human-centered, instead of eco-centered, environmental rights, in keeping with the Symposium’s theme of “Environmental Constitutionalism.” Christen’s article will be published in the Pace Environmental Law Review next year.

The Pace Environmental Law Review (PELR) held its annual symposium titled “Environmental Constitutionalism” on Friday, October 28, 2022. Hosted by the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, the virtual symposium attracted over 100 attendees, bringing together scholars, advocates, regulators, policymakers, and students worldwide to discuss constitutional environmental rights.
