Making a Global Impact

The Global Center for Environmental Legal Studies (GCELS) at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University anchors innovative and ongoing projects to develop necessary laws to address the world’s most pressing global environmental issues. Our work is guided by the paramount need to ensure human rights and environmental justice for communities most affected by climate change and environmental degradation.

IUCN Motion Tracker

Since 2023, GCELS students, alumni, and faculty at Pace | Haub Environmental Law have been preparing for the 2025 IUCN World Conservation Congress, researching, drafting, and building coalitions behind IUCN policy motions, while raising awareness of the issues discussed in the motions. On October 8–16, 2025, a cohort of 4 faculty members, 5 students, and 6 alumni will bring this work to the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, continuing their advocacy. Read the Motions
