The Phenomenon of Chappell RoanProfessor of Film and Screen Studies Catherine Zimmer, PhD, authored an article in Avidly (a channel of the LA Review of Books) titled “A Feminomenology of Chappell Roan,” in which she discussed the “phenomenon” of the singer-songwriter, which includes, among other things, “an earnest and passionate longing for the analog,” something Zimmer feels the artist herself embodies.

The Song As StruggleJustin Winley, a Film and Screen Studies graduate, worked with Assistant Professor of Communication Studies Melvin Williams, PhD, and independent researcher Justin Causey, to explore the role of hip hop music in conveying grief, generational pain, and other emotions that might otherwise go unexpressed among Black men.
Turning Bold Ideas into Must-See TV
Hilary Leavitt, who grew up in Brick, New Jersey, is now a successful producer with a growing list of credits that includes the award-winning television series Orphan Black and Ozark. She credits much of her professional achievement to the opportunities she received as a student at Pace University, double-majoring in Musical Theater and Film and Screen Studies.
