Melissa Kaplan-Macey serves as Chief Initiative Of􀏐icer for the Centers for Housing Opportunity at The Housing Collective, where she leads the organization's housing affordability practice. Melissa is an expert in affordable housing, public policy, urban planning, and community engagement and has extensive experience building collaborative relationships with community and cross-sector partners to leverage resources and implement projects and programs. She currently serves on the Connecticut legislature’s Majority Leaders’ Roundtable on affordable housing. She has served as co-chair of CT Governor Lamont’s transition transportation policy committee, a member of the Commission on Connecticut’s Future and Development’s affordable housing plans working group, and a member of Governor Lamont’s Fair􀏐ield County Transit Oriented Development Taskforce. Melissa received her undergraduate degree from Brown University and her Masters in Urban Planning from New York University.

She is also an active volunteer in her local community in Westchester, serving on the board of Sustainable Westchester, the board of the Mamaroneck Housing Authority, as a member of the Mamaroneck Coalition for Affordable Housing and a mentor with Mamaroneck High School’s Original Civic Research and Action (OCRA) program.
