Eco Leap LLC

Mindy Germain is the driving force behind Eco Leap, a firm dedicated to activating the intersection of behavior change and decarbonization. With over two decades of experience in sustainability, environmental advocacy, and global communications, Mindy has become a trusted advisor for municipalities and companies navigating sustainability, resiliency, and greenhouse gas reduction goals.
Eco Leap's approach leverages climate science, behavioral research, and community engagement to build cultures of sustainability. One of the key pillars of the company’s work is community empowerment—engaging stakeholders, especially in disadvantaged and at-risk areas, to thrive in the face of environmental challenges like air quality, flooding, and extreme weather. Additionally, health and climate resilience are central tenets, with an emphasis on ensuring communities are prepared against growing environmental threats. Through inspiration and engagement, Eco Leap fosters a sense of responsibility and widespread adoption of sustainable practices.
Mindy’s leadership is well-demonstrated through collaborations with the Town of North Hempstead, the City of Glen Cove, the Long Island Rail Road, and other partners, driving sustainable practices and uniting stakeholders around shared environmental goals. Mindy currently serves as Outreach Director for the LIRR’s CMAQ program, Transit Solutions, and chairs the Car Free Day Long Island coalition.
She is also widely recognized for her work with the New York State Climate Smart Communities program, guiding municipalities through education and outreach efforts to tackle climate goals. In addition to her public work, Mindy has been honored as a New York State Woman of Distinction and Nassau County Trailblazer of the New Millennium. She is a Long Island Trustee of the Energeia Partnership and has been recognized by the American Water Works Association for her service in the drinking water profession.
