This course will examine recent developments in the creation, interpretation and application of federal and state civil rights laws. We will look at the latest decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court, lower federal courts and state courts effecting the applicability of these laws in a variety of contexts, including (but not limited to): discrimination based on race and sex, LGBTQ+ rights, parental rights and religious rights.
