Sabbatical Semester
January 2015 - June 2015. Pace University, Pace University. Funded. The sabbatical project will be used to develop a number of Liberal Arts templates that incorporate both competency-based modules and adaptive learning software to be used for online PACEPrep (College Preparatory course) and later in Dyson iPace courses. Communication skills, qualitative reasoning, critical thinking, integration and application of knowledge, intellectual depth and adaptability, understanding social and cultural values and ethics that are an integral part of the learning outcomes in the English, science, mathematics and communications modules of the PACEPrep. During the Fall 2014 semester, my purpose is to collaborate in developing more comprehensive adaptive learning projects (Stanford and Carnegie-Mellon Universities) and competency-based modules (Western Governors University) to develop nationally-accepted templates that focus on professional skills. These modules will be customized for PACEPrep and new courses, while students’ knowledge can be demonstrated by traditional final exam. Competency-based and skill development is particularly attractive for higher education students and the adult population, particularly in our Dyson iPace degree.
