Medically Underserved Areas

Clinical Clerkships are being developed to provide students with an opportunity to learn and provide care in medically underserved areas or with medically underserved populations including rural, inner-city, immigrant, indigent, military and prison populations. Clerkships will also focus on the needs, resources and counseling available for these special populations and the influence that culture and socioeconomic factors can have on healthcare delivery. The goal is to provide students experiences in underserved areas with an aim to draw them to ultimately practice in these areas or with these populations.

International Elective Rotation

Students may choose to do their elective rotation abroad through Child Family Health International. The CFHI Global Health Education Program offers students a comprehensive clinical and cultural immersion experience in a developing country with local professionals working under vastly different circumstances from those found in the US, Canada or Europe.

Students may seek to initiate clinical clerkships with approval from the program but NO student is required to provide or solicit clinical sites or preceptors.
