I Am More Than My Seeds
I Am More Than My Seeds examines the power of counternarratives in marginalized communities and the process of (re)claiming their truths. Consisting of three panels, conversations will examine: the contradictions of land acknowledgement statements without paths towards rematriation; the appropriation and monetization of seeds from marginalized communities that are lacking in solidarity; and the retelling of narratives of survival: "they came with seeds in their hair" which examines storytelling and the power of resilience. The program will conclude with a drumming circle.
This program open to all members of the Pace community and open to the public. Sponsors include the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Department of Environmental Studies and Science, the Pace Sustainability Initiative and the AntiRacism Advocates Collective. Refreshments will be served.
