Make Your Mark - Journal decorating
Make Your Mark is a creative, drop in event open to Pace University students and staff who want to make something uniquely their own. Hosted by the LGBTQA+Center, this event brings together journaling, art, writing, and community in a relaxed and welcoming space.
When you arrive, choose a free journal with a blank cover ready to become your own canvas. Decorate your journal using a variety of materials, including queer themed stickers, fun pins, bows, newspaper and magazine clippings, old textbook pages, and drawing materials. Whether you want to create a colorful collage, sketch your own design, or cover your journal in words and images that represent you, there are no rules for making your mark.
Looking for something to write about? We’ll also have handmade bookmarks featuring creative writing and self care prompts. Pick a bookmark and use the prompt as a starting point for a short story, poem, reflection, or personal journal entry. You’re welcome to write alongside other attendees and share your work if you’d like, or take your prompt home and write privately.
Creative writing prompts will include fiction, poetry, self expression, and self care, offering opportunities to explore both imagination and personal reflection. There will also be an opportunity for students in participating classes to earn extra credit. Come decorate, write, create, and connect with others. No artistic or writing experience is required. Just bring yourself and your imagination. Journals and decorating materials will be provided for free while supplies last.
