Did you know UNICEF has its own Halloween tradition?
In 1950, right after World War II, a group of kids in Philadelphia went door-to-door on Halloween, not for candy, but carrying milk cartons to collect coins for children who had lost homes and schools in the war.
That little act of kindness spread fast. By the next year, UNICEF created the first official orange box, and “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF” was born.
Over the decades, millions of kids across the U.S. carried those little orange boxes on Halloween, raising over $180 million to give children around the world vaccines, clean water, nutrition, and education.
Today, the program has gone digital with QR codes and online “virtual boxes,” but the mission is the same: kids helping kids.
This year, our club is joining in!
- Boxes will be handed out October 1
- Collect donations through October 31
The member who raises the most will win a special gift!
