Professor Smita Narula elected as a Fellow in the American College of Environmental Lawyers
Professor Smita Narula was invited by the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) to become a Fellow in the ACOEL. Professor Narula is among 22 new Active Fellows and two Honorary Fellows elected to membership in the College. The ACOEL notes that “Each individual was selected for his or her distinguished experience, high standards of practice and substantial contributions to the field of environmental law.” Congratulations, Professor Narula! In addition to Professor Narula, two Haub Law alumni were also elected to the ACOEL as fellows – Basil Seggos ‘01 and Marla Wieder ‘93. Read the ACOEL press release (PDF).

Professor Yiran Zhang, Proskauer Assistant Professor of Employment and Labor Law at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) and an Associate Member of the Cornell Law School faculty, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026–2027 Haub Law Emerging Scholar Award in Women, Gender & Law for her article Family Caregiving as Work?, forthcoming in the Minnesota Law Review.

Haub Law Professor Bridget Crawford pens an op-ed in The Columbus Dispatch examining how Ohio's remaining child marriage laws contributed to conditions that enabled the abuse of 16 children in Vinton County. Drawing on her own upbringing in the community, Crawford argues that closing the state's child marriage loophole and strengthening support for child welfare services are essential to preventing future tragedies.
