Biography
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES
Dr. Birgit Elchoueri began her academic career as an Adjunct Professor at Pace University in 2019 and was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Management in 2024. She employs student-centered teaching methods such as contemporary business case analyses, online business simulations, group projects, and guest lectures from corporate executives. She teaches undergraduate Management courses, graduate courses focused on Disruptive Technologies and Innovation, and the doctoral-level Management Foundation Seminar. Drawing on more than 25 years of Wall Street executive experience, Dr. Elchoueri brings real-world insight to the classroom, engaging students in discussions on the strategic and ethical challenges organizations face when balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders.
Dr. Elchoueri is passionate about emerging business trends, disruptive technologies, and digital transformation particularly their impact on the future of work. She has been a frequent speaker at insurtech and innovation events and participates in panels on technological disruption and workforce evolution.
For 15 years, Dr. Elchoueri served as Chief of Staff to the CEO and Board Member of Allianz Commercial North America. In this role, she advised the CEO on strategic initiatives and, together with her team, led the implementation of key strategies. She was instrumental in sourcing and executing M&A transactions, divestitures, and strategic investments. She managed the CEO and Board Office and oversaw the Marketing and Events and Corporate Communications departments, directing all internal and external communications, including crisis management. In partnership with Human Resources, she developed learning solutions for multi-generational workforces and led organizational redesign and integration initiatives across divisions.
Before joining Allianz, she held senior executive roles at leading financial institutions including Salomon Smith Barney, HSBC, Fortis Bank, and LBBW Bank. She managed Accounting, Finance, and Product Control functions and developed global markets products such as Structured Credit, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Asset-Backed Securities, FX, and Equities strategies.
Dr. Elchoueri holds an Executive Coaching Certification from Teachers College, Columbia University. Outside of academia, she coaches and advises executives transitioning to C-suite roles with a special focus on emotional intelligence coaching and provides career coaching to professionals across all levels.
