Biography

Faculty Bio

Dr. Hyunkyung Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems, School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Pace University. Her research focuses on online user behaviors and the strategic challenges companies face in adapting to emerging technologies, with the goal of enhancing the online user experience.
Her current research agenda examines the intricate dynamics of ad-blocking technologies within the digital advertising ecosystem. She investigates the reasons behind the adoption of ad-blocking technologies and their implications for various stakeholders, including consumers, advertisers, and online platforms. Her methodological approach integrates rigorous empirical methods, including econometrics, survival analysis, and experimental designs, augmented by machine learning methods when appropriate.
She received her PhD in Information Systems from Emory University. Before pursuing her PhD, she co-founded a tech start-up providing user behavioral analytics. She also holds a Master’s degree in Management Engineering from KAIST and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Yonsei University.
