Film screening and Q&A: The Keeper

Attend a special screening of The Keeper followed by an in-person conversation with filmmaker Jon Bowermaster.

The Keeper follows the cantankerous, charismatic, and fiercely devoted John Lipscomb and his loyal dog as they patrol the Hudson River by wooden boat, guarding a waterway long scarred by industrial abuse. Though the river has made a remarkable recovery, the film reveals the environmental threats that still endanger this historic and fragile ecosystem.

Bowermaster, an award-winning oceans expert, journalist, and founder of Oceans 8 Films and the One Ocean Media Foundation, has spent years documenting climate change in the Hudson Valley and around the world. After the screening, attendees will have the chance to speak directly with him about the film, the river, and the future of environmental stewardship.

Popcorn and drinks will be served. This event is co-hosted by the Departments of Environmental Studies and Science and Media, Communications, and Visual Arts (MCVA), the Office of Residential Life, and Pleasantville's Films on Purpose.
