Center for Student Transition and Belonging

First-Year Experience

Pace's First-Year Experience helps new students develop the knowledge, relationships, and habits they need to navigate their first year. The experience connects academic transition, belonging, help-seeking, and future planning across advising, the first-year seminar, peer support, and university partnerships.

UNV 101 First-Year Seminar

UNV 101 is a small-group first-year seminar that helps students become confident members of the Pace and school or major community. Students explore academic expectations, campus resources, support networks, metacognition, purpose, and planning for future success.

  • Common learning outcomes and course expectations
  • One-credit and three-credit seminar formats
  • Success Map culminating experience
  • Connections to advisors, peer leaders, and university resources

Peer Leader Program

Peer Leaders bring the student perspective into the first-year seminar and help new students build community, find resources, and learn how to navigate Pace. The program includes recruitment, training, supervision, and ongoing development for student leaders.

New Student Transition Partnerships

The Center partners with Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Pace's schools, and other university offices to strengthen the connection among pre-orientation preparation, orientation, advising, the first semester, and the transition to major advising.

Transfer Student Success

Transfer students arrive at Pace with prior learning, experience, goals, and questions that differ from those of first-time college students. Pace is expanding its transfer student success approach to create a more connected experience from entry and credit evaluation through academic planning, belonging, progression, and graduation.

This page should initially serve as a clear transfer resource hub while the broader Transfer Student Success Program is developed. It should link students to existing services and create space for new transition programming as it becomes available.

Initial page sections
