Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program and Certificate of Graduate Study, MS

Developed to meet the evolving demands of the today’s rapidly changing world, Pace University’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program uses a primary health care and lifespan focus to prepare students for advanced practice in psychiatric mental health nursing.

Through this program, students will graduate ready to make an impact across a wide variety of professional settings—whether it’s immersing themselves in a distinct community or non-profit, a private practice, an institutional setting, or a substance abuse setting or shelter. Students will practice and employ a wide variety of techniques to assess, prevent, and treat psychiatric diseases and disorders across the lifespan, while particularly focusing on treating people with substance use disorders.

The program, which is offered as both as a Master of Science (MS) for those looking to enhance their career or as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) for those already master’s-prepared as advanced practice nurses, is offered in a part-time online format which allows students to earn their degree while maintaining employment. In addition to online classes, the program includes clinical experiences arranged near the student’s home, whenever possible, and scheduled on-campus visits.
