Mentoring Program

The Pforzheimer Honors College offers a first year and transfer student Peer Mentoring Program.  Our upper class students volunteer to be mentors to our incoming students to help them adjust to college life.  We match up our students by major and ask the mentors to reach out during the summer to answer any questions the first year students might have.  This is a semester long venture with our mentors taking our students to athletic events, an honors trip, meeting up for lunch, or just hanging out in the Honors Lounge to play a board game.

This enables our incoming Honors students to have an immediate community and opens up dialogue regarding registering for classes, how to navigate the campus, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, etc., and gives them an immediate friend on campus.

Our mentors learn how to be leaders, develop compassion and improve listening skills.
