Policies

Lived Name
Individuals may use a first name that is different from their legal name on certain campus systems and documents. To initiate this process, fill out the name change form offered through the Office of Student Accounts.

Non-Discrimination
Pace’s non-discrimination policy protects individuals on the basis of sex, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation. Individuals may report violations of this policy to the Title IX Coordinator/Affirmative Action Office at (212) 346-1310. The office is located at 163 William Street, 10th Floor, Room 1017, New York, NY 10038. Inquiries concerning the application of Title IX and implementing regulations, as well as inquiries concerning the application of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, may be referred to the Title IX Coordinator/Affirmative Action Officer or Assistant Secretary for Office for Civil Rights.​

Public Facilities
At Pace, individuals may use a restroom or public facility that corresponds with their gender identity or legal sex. If you feel you have been discriminated against while accessing Pace's public facilities, you can make a formal complaint with the Affirmative Action Office.

Zoom Name Change

Permanently changing a name and adding pronouns in Zoom:

  • Log in to Zoom where you can access your profile page.
  • Click the first "Edit" option to the right of your name.
  • You now have the option to change the first and last name displayed.
  • Add your pronouns in the "Last Name" box or at the end of your last name.

Temporarily changing a name and adding pronouns in Zoom:

  • Once you've joined a Zoom meeting, click on "Participants" located at the bottom center of the Zoom screen.
  • A panel opens on the right listing participants. Move your cursor over yourself.
  • Click the blue "More" button, then "Rename."
  • You now have the option to change the first and last name displayed.
  • Add your pronouns at the end of your name!

Education

Queer Studies Minor
Interested in courses that examine LGBTQA+ topics, history, and culture from a queer perspective? Pace’s queer studies minor is organized around the insight that sexuality and gender is at the center of the human experience—from the formation of the individual to the organization of diverse societies. Our courses examine the significance of same-gender desire and gender identity and expression throughout history and across a variety of global cultures.

Workshops
Safe Zone training, Trans 101, and related LGBTQA+ social justice, and diversity trainings are offered by the LGBTQA+ Center.

Health and Wellness

Transition-Related Medical Care
The Pace “Student Health and Sickness Policy" includes coverage for sex affirmation surgeries and hormone treatments. Information and requirements to qualify for transition-related medical care coverage for Pace employees can be found here.

Counseling
Pace offers individual, couples, and group counseling to all Pace students. To learn more about Pace’s Counseling Center, call at (212) 346-1526 or stop by at 156 William Street, 8th Floor.

Referral Services
Referral services are available through the Counseling Center or LGBTQA+ Center to medical and mental health practitioners and organizations with expertise in trans* health and wellness. Additionally, the LGBTQA+ Center’s website provides a thorough listing of trans* health and wellness resources and organizations in the New York region.

Health Care Unit
Pace’s Health Care Unit provides health education, health assessment with complete physical examination, STI testing, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, first aid for minor injuries, and management of chronic health problems. For more information, call at (212) 346-1600.

Community

LGBTQA+ Center
The LGBTQA+ Center offers a wide variety of social events, advocacy initiatives, educational programs, and support services for LGBTQA+ individuals on campus.

LGBTQA+ Lounge and Library
The LGBTQA+ Center lounge is open Monday–Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and is overseen by staff and interns. There is free coffee, tea, WiFi, printing, and smiles! Visitors are able to check out books and DVDs from the LGBTQA+ Center’s library as well.

LGBTQA+ Organizations on Campus
Pace offers a variety of student-run organizations including the Stonewall Coalition, Lavender Ladies, Pace Pride Collective, qSTEM, and the LGBTQA+ Task Force.

T-Time
A discussion series for trans and gender non-conforming folks. Trans encompasses the many diverse identities that exist under and outside of the transgender umbrella. This includes but is not limited to transgender, genderqueer, agender, genderless, genderf*ck, third gender, two spirit, bigender, non-gendered, and those who are questioning their gender identity.

QTPOC Corner
A weekly discussion for queer and trans people of color to discuss the challenges and joys of living at the intersection of sexuality, gender, and race.

Campus Living

Gender Neutral Housing
On the New York City Campus, Pace offers gender-neutral housing in which interested resident students are able to select roommates regardless of their gender identity.

Gender Neutral Restrooms
Gender neutral and ADA accessible restrooms are available throughout Pace campuses. A complete listing of single-stall accessible gender neutral restrooms and multi-stall gender specific restrooms is available on the LGBTQA+ Center’s website above.
