Crystal Skillman is an award winning Brooklyn based playwright. Another Kind of Love, about a family of punk rock singers facing a night of revelations, featuring original music by Tony Award nominee Heidi Rodewald, played at the Chopin Theater this summer in Chicago in a production with Infusion Theater Company which the Chicago Reader called a “Masterpiece”. King Kirby, co-written with her husband Fred Van Lente, Geek! and Cut, have all earned Critics Picks from The New York Times. Wild earned three 2014 New York Innovation Theater Award nominations, was produced in New York and Chicago, and read Off Broadway in MCC Theater’s Playlabs at the Lucille Lortel. The Vigil or The Guided Cradle, won the 2010 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Full-Length Script. Her musicals with award-winning composer Bobby Cronin include: (Un)Lucky in Love (Co-Bookwriter), and the musical theater adaption of the film Mary and Max, to be directed by Outer Critics Circle Award-winning Stafford Arima with mask design by Joseph Osheroff and puppetry design by Acheson Walsh Studios. Film/TV includes Drunk Art Love, a web series written for PACE University students and two pilots in development. Crystal was recently awarded the Clifford Odets Ensemble Play Commission to write her new play, Pulp Verite, for the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, which will be directed by Shaun Peknic, and produced Fall 2015. Crystal is represented by Amy Wagner and Ron Gwiazda at Abrams Artists Agency in NY, and James Beresford with Shepard Management in the UK.
