Designing and Implementing Online Communicative Activites

Course Description

This curriculum is designed for participants to learn and scaffold new language teaching and online pedagogy skills for use in their online English language courses.

Throughout this virtual or in-person program, participants will engage in project-based learning as they develop and implement synchronous and asynchronous online activities. Each week participants will work toward building a portfolio of activities for their capstone project, which will be presented in the final week.

Objectives

  • Define CLT and identify ways it can be utilized in communicative activities in online courses
  • Create communicative activities that foster community in online courses through communicative activities
  • Review and provide peer and self-feedback regarding communicative activities
  • Revise communicative activities based on self and peer-feedback
  • Identify and utilize regionally accessible and OER medial resources

Course Enhancements

  • Guest speakers from Pace University’s Pace Online and MS TESOL Department
  • Access to Pace's library of Open Educational Resources
  • Cultural exchange activities such as virtual or in-person museum visits and walking tours
