Welcome to the Art Department at Pace University’s New York City Campus!
The Art Department at Pace University is a vibrant center of artistic and creative practice and interdisciplinary exchange. We trust in the humanistic purpose of the arts, guiding student artists towards inventing the future in which they wish to live. We teach a diverse range of creative practices and life skills to insure student success after graduation. Pace's New York City Campus is the rich setting for our studio and academic programs in the visual arts. Our light-filled studios overlook Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, where students have access to the creative communities in the leading center for art and design in the United States.
The Art Department is where artists and designers become independent critical thinkers, inventive risk takers, and engaged global citizens. Embracing the creative exploration of both traditional art practices and new media, our diverse student body is prepared to take on the complex challenges of the 21st Century. We challenge students to cultivate their highest selves as artists and art historians, and prepare them to enter the wide range of creative sectors and professional fields in the thriving world in which we work.
We offer BFA and BA degrees in Studio Art, with BFA concentrations in Photography, Painting and Drawing, Sculpture/3D Design, Digital Art and Design, and Video Production; and a BA degree in Art History. Specialized courses are offered in animation, remix culture, graphic novels, public art, mobile media, eco-art, performance art, hip hop and packaging design. Our faculty are professional exhibiting artists and researchers who share their experience with students through close mentorship advising. Students can take advanced courses in photography at our partner institution, The International Center of Photography.
In 2019 we will open an exciting new street level gallery with vibrant exhibitions, lectures, and workshops featuring contemporary topics and diverse visiting artists.
The Art Department welcomes applicants, majors, minors and the Pace community at large to join us in a center of visual invention, critical reflection and creative action.
