About the Academic Support Team

The Academic Support team provides professional assistance for technology used in instruction. This department is responsible for supporting faculty by providing instructional technology support and training, ensuring effective IT guidance, and enhancing the overall user experience. Our team members stay up-to-date on instructional technology trends and will assist faculty in harnessing emerging technologies.

Services Provided

The Academic Support team within ITS provides the following services to faculty and staff at Pace:

  • Provides front-line end-user support to faculty, assisting with the integration of technology into face-to-face, online, or web-assisted courses.
  • Serves as a liaison between schools and colleges and ITS departments to ensure timely and effective IT assistance in all facets of daily operations. This includes collaborating with various departments within ITS to address and resolve technical issues and follow up on service issues.
  • Conducts workshops, training sessions, and presentations to educate faculty and support staff on the use of instructional technology.
  • Develops innovative ways to integrate technology into courses and support faculty with building course shells in the LMS using tools such as Creator+ to enhance course design and engagement.
  • Provides support for planning and evaluating technology upgrades for school-controlled spaces such as computer labs and conference rooms. This includes guidance on technology standards, design recommendations, equipment selection, and alignment with university-wide systems. Note that the setup, scheduling, and funding for these spaces will continue to be managed by each individual school.
  • Assists with new employee onboarding to ensure faculty and staff have the necessary accounts, access, and devices to begin their roles effectively.
  • Presents to incoming students during Summer and January orientations on the pedagogical and ethical use of academic systems such as Turnitin, Respondus LockDown Browser, Zoom, and other academic tools.

Requests for Service

Requests for services will be handled through the ITS Help Desk. Requests will be assigned to the appropriate ITS service area for assistance.
