Student Printing

Pace University is using a Pharos Uni-Print solution to provide a "green", student-friendly approach to printing from any location. The system increases student functionality to a wide range of printing, copying, & scanning services to meet ever-evolving document needs. Students can conveniently print to any multifunctional Pharos printer regardless of location.

UPDATE – July 18th, 2016: The Pharos printing software system is being upgraded along with a number of outgoing Canon printers that have reached their end-of-lease period.  Two new Canon printer models are replacing the outgoing printers and other remaining printers will be replaced in the near future, as they reach end-of-lease.  The new models will be delivered between the end of July and the beginning of August.  The implementation and configuration will be performed in stages during the week of August 8th-11th (Monday-Thursday).  During this time, local printing may be set up, but there may be brief intervals of time where printing may not be available in specific locations.  Students will be required to download the new print client (coming soon) in order to print remotely to the new Pharos system.  Please see the general schedule below.

Pharos System Upgrade 2016 Schedule

Week of 7/25 – Delivery of new Canon printers will begin for the Computer Resource Centers and Libraries.  Some of the current printers in these areas will be disconnected and sent back to Canon during this time.  The new printers will be assembled and prepped, but will remain dormant until the Pharos upgrade is completed.

Week of 8/1 – Towards end of the week, some of the areas with selected individual printers should receive a replacement printer model.  The outgoing printer will be disconnected and removed.  The new printer will be assembled and prepped, but will remain dormant until the Pharos upgrade is completed.

Monday 8/8 – Beginning at 9:00am on Monday, all Pharos printing will be disabled and affected areas will be switched to local printing, while the Pharos system is prepped for the upgrade.  At 12pm, the database migration and server application work will commence and will take several hours.

Tuesday 8/9 – Thursday 8/11 – Front-end application installations, configuration, and testing between printers and computers in labs/libraries will begin, as well as installation and testing of the remote print client.  Additional Canon printers will continue to be delivered and set up during this time.  On Thursday at 2:00pm, the new Pharos software system will go live.

Note: The dates and times listed above are subject to change, depending on unforeseen circumstances.
